How To Make A Quick and Easy Drink Holder

Are you in need of a quick gift, or looking to use up some scrap fabric? This easy drink holder can be done in about 15 minutes (if you subtract all the times your kids interrupt you.)

You will need the following:

  • Cotton fabric for front and back. (I chose a “front” and “back” pattern, but you can use the same fabric for both.)
  • Thread.
  • Batting or felt.
  • Loop and hook tape.
  • Tools: cutting mat, rotary cutter, straight edge, sewing machine, iron, pins, needle, scissors.

First, you need to prep and cut your fabric. Iron your cotton fabrics. Cut 2 pieces of cotton (decide which will be “front” and “back”) and 1 piece of batting to 10″ by 4.5″.

This is my favorite cutting mat. The 18″x24″ is a great size to store in a closet and pull out to use on your kitchen table when needed. Check it out here.

Next, stack your cut pieces with the batting on the bottom and the front and back pieces *right sides together* on top. Pin together.

With a 1/4″ seam allowance, sew around the edge of the entire rectangle, leaving about 3 inches on a short edge open to flip. Trim corners.

Use the open side to flip right sides out. Push corners out. Sew closed short edge hole with a needle and thread. Press flat. *Optional* stitch around the outside edge with 1/4″ seam allowance.

Lastly, cut 3.5″ of loop and hook tape. Sew one piece to the short end of the front, and the other piece to the opposite short end of the back.

And, Voila! You made your very own drink holder. Be proud and give yourself a pat on the back!
