Making A Christmas Advent Wreath Out of A LEGO Wreath
Two things we love in this house - Lego and Christmas!
Since my kids are getting older, I decided this year I wanted to add to our yearly traditions the Advent Candles. I began searching for a wreath centerpiece, but wasn't finding anything that I was really excited about.
Then I saw that LEGO came out with their Christmas Wreath 2-in-1 (#40426) and knew it would be perfect! You can get yours here.
*The LEGO Christmas Wreath 2-in-1 (#40426) was released in 2023. It is still available on Amazon. LEGO released a new Wreath (#10340) in 2024
I love the versatility of this set. Not only does it come with instructions for both a hanging wreath with a big red bow or an advent with Lego candles, but it also has additional ideas of how to put this set together.
It took me about 50 minutes to put this set together (while on a video call with my sisters). Starting with the base of the wreath, then adding foliage, and finishing with bows and candles.
Once I finished the set I realized another unique feature of this set - the box!
The box is designed with a hinge top so you can store your completed wreath, instructions, and additional pieces back in the box when you put your Christmas decorations away.
Assembling My Advent Centerpiece
When the wreath was finished, it was time to assemble the rest of my project. I wanted to use real candles, but couldn't find the right holders to keep them all in the center of the wreath. So I turned to some diy ingenuity.
I found this plate at Hobby Lobby, which the wreath fit perfectly around the raised edge so the candles were glued to the lower part. This way, as the candles melted I didn't have to worry about wax getting on the LEGO. I used e600 to glue the candles in place.
And voila! (the candles are very tall, but I'm hoping they will last a couple years.) Make sure you grab your own LEGO Christmas 2-in-1 Wreath!
*When it was time to store my centerpiece, I was able to simply pop the candles off the plate and will reglue them next year.
