My Review of the "Island Holiday" Book Nook Kit

I'm sure I can somehow link my love of miniature things to something in my childhood. Or a simple side affect of being a millennial. Either way, mini things just have a way of stealing my attention.

I was very excited to add this Book Nook to my shelf. My own mini Island Holiday. [view it on Amazon here]. Here is my honest review of the kit.

There are multiple types of miniature house kits that have different assembly. This kit in particular is completely wood board. It is pre printed and laser cut. The pieces come in sheets and are each numbered. You simply press out the piece you need, sand the edges, and attach.

It took me about 3 hours total to complete the kit. You can see my (shortened) assembly videos below.

I think the only negative to this kit is that the instructions are rather vague. It was entirely images and arrows. This made it somewhat tricky in places, and a few pieces I had to remove and reattach.

A few tips:

I decided to glue every piece into place. The instructions didn't specify to do this, it just stated that glue would be needed. Some pieces had pegs and slits that it fit into, while others did not. I figured, better to be safe and make sure no piece would move.

A craft knife may make removing the pieces from the sheet easier. I was a little worried with some of the thinner and more delicate pieces that I would break them trying to remove from the sheet. (Also, after a while, this does start to hurt the fingers.)

I found it easiest to lay the sides down to attach all the parts.

Some of the window frames seem to go on crooked from the room image when you look at it straight on during assembly. That is to offset for when you look at it from the open end.
