Assembling the LEGO Icons Bouquet of Roses Set
This year for Valentine's Day my husband out did himself and gifted me the LEGO Icons Bouquet of Roses. I was beyond excited to put it together and have a lasting reminder of how much he loves me. The set includes 4 roses each in 3 different blooming stages, for a total of 12 roses, and 4 stems of baby's breath. It took me about an hour to assemble the set and then place it in the vase I got. (I put blue tissue paper and glass beads in the... Read more...
Easy (Removeable) Faux Stained Glass Window
We have a large window in the downstairs of the front of our house. It's at the perfect level to the street that anyone can look in and see what we're doing. Since this is primarily our kids play area, it made me uncomfortable. Hanging curtains or blinds was my first thought. Until I stumbled across this Privacy Film Static Window Cling, and I knew it was meant to be! This window cling is easy to install, removable and reusable, and provides privacy protection while still allowing natural light through.... Read more...
Up-cycled Dress Made Into A Generational Family Keepsake
Our daughter is the only granddaughter on my husband's side of the family. Therefore, she gets all of the girly, pretty, and pink things. Including being handed down this beautiful dress from my sister-in-love. The Dress I then learned some history behind the dress. Not only did this dress belong to my mother-in-love, but she made it herself for her graduation! Because of it's special significance, I decided I wanted to make it into a keepsake. My original plan was to do a keepsake bear, which I figured I could... Read more...
How to Make Your Own Nativity Silhouette Flameless Candles
When looking for new Christmas decorations, I found some beautiful silhouette candles. I decided to try out making my own, and it was very easy. Here is what you'll need: 3 set of flameless candles. (The ones I used are no longer available, but these are a good alternative.) Permanent vinyl. (I purchased mine from Dollar Tree, or I recommend Oracal 651) Transfer tape or clear contact paper. (This is my favorite transfer tape.) Vinyl cutting machine. (I prefer Silhouette Cameo.) First, measure your candles and decide the size you... Read more...
New Fun Family Tradition, LEGO Race
One thing our family shares is a great enjoyment of LEGO. While our boys are amazing at coming up with their own creations, our daughter loves the familiar Minifigures from her favorite movies, and I love cute and fun sets that give me step by step instructions. This Thanksgiving break we decided to take our LEGO building to a new level and have a race. The kids were excited to pick out the set they wanted (in my given price range). Here are the sets we used: LEGO BrickHeadz Star... Read more...
How NOT To Make A Scrap Quilt - Part 2
If you've been following along in my scrap quilt journey, you've seen that so far things have not gone super great. Unfortunately, things have not improved. You'd think this far along I would learn to slow down, but instead I seem to do the opposite. Determined to just hurry up and get this darn thing finished, I've continued in my examples of "what not to do". In How NOT To Make A Scrap Quilt - Part 1 I laid out how not to make the squares for a scrap quilt.... Read more...

Making A Christmas Advent Wreath Out of A LEGO Wreath HolidayLEGO Nov 22 Two things we love in this house - Lego and Christmas! Wassail- The Perfect Warm Cider to Spice Up Your Christmas Season
I was first introduced to wassail through my husband's family. Since then, it has become a staple part of our Christmas celebrations (I even started adding it to our Thanksgiving spread.) While some cook wassail on the stove, I prefer to cook it in my crockpot. I make it first thing in the morning, and let the sweet aroma fill the house all day. Accompanied by some good classic Christmas music, it sure puts me in the holiday spirt. Simply add all ingredients to the crockpot and let it simmer... Read more...
How To Make Mini Pavlova (inspired by Bluey)
For years I heard other parents talking about the show Bluey. Since my kids are older (7-11 age range) I never thought much of it. Until we were waiting our hotel watching tv and it was the only thing on. We were all instantly hooked, and the rest is history! Naturally when season 3 came available, we watched it together as a family. (Yes, I am emotionally invested in the Heeler family) And we soon got to Season 3, Episode 17 "Pavlova", we went straight to Google. Basically a meringue-based... Read more...
