5 Sewing Tools I Can’t Live Without
When you’ve been doing anything for a while, you figure out your preferred way of doing things. I generally read quite a few patterns and watch videos of various creators and figure out what works best for me. So I decided to share five of my favorite tools that I use for sewing to hopefully help you out. Sewing Machine I feel like this is a no-brainer so I’m not counting this as any of the five, but if you are just beginning your sewing journey you may be looking... Read more...
DIY Folded Fabric Ornament
A great way to personalize your Christmas tree, make a unique family heirloom, or use up some of your fabric stash. Folded fabric ornaments can be tedious, but are a great way to keep your hands busy while you watch tv, or a fun craft for a friend's night. I used some leftover fabric I had from other projects. I was even able to make one with some left over pieces from a Family Dress (read more about the Unique Family Keepsake I made.) Materials To make one ornament you’ll... Read more...
"Harry Potter: Crochet Wizardry" Golden Snitch Blanket
My sisters and I have always been Harry Potter fans. We loved watching the movies with our dad growing up. And now, we get to share the Wizarding World love with our own kids. I had gotten the [Harry Potter: Crochet Wizardry, Official Harry Potter Crochet Pattern Book] with the intent to make scarves for my kids. But when I saw the Golden Snitch pattern, knew I had to give it a go. And with the announcement of my sister's pregnancy, it was the perfect opportunity. What I enjoyed about... Read more...
LEGO Bonsai Tree
I've always wanted a bonsai tree. But for one with a brown thumb, the LEGO Bonsai Tree is a great option. I love that it gives two foliage options. You can either have green leaves, or pink cherry blossoms. I would definitely recommend this set. It makes a great gift for any LEGO fan as a beautiful decor piece for a living area, office, or to add a speck of color to your favorite space. It does have loose tiny pieces in the pot, so I would suggest against storing it... Read more...
Review of Rolife Free Time Books DIY Miniature House Kit
I have had my eye on Rolife Miniature House Kits for a while now. After I finished my Island Holiday Book Nook Kit I started looking at which Rolife Kit I wanted to do first. I decided on the Free Time Books Miniature House Kit and grabbed it from my local Joann Fabrics. (You can also get it from Amazon here: Free Time Books) My Review This is the first Rolife set I have done. They offer different levels of DIY from simply snapping pieces together like a puzzle, to painting and building each item.... Read more...
How to Counted Cross Stitch without Knots
So apparently with the recent release of a single video, Taylor Swift has unofficially endorsed sewing and needlework.   I started counted cross stitch when I was in junior high. Its a great craft if you want something to keep your hands busy while you sit and relax. (My husband calls it my "old lady craft". Especially since I generally sit in my rocking chair, with a blanket on my lap, and a warm cup of tea.)   I am cursed with a combination of the "how hard can... Read more...
DIY Custom Shirts For Your Next Theme Park Adventure
When I was a kid my family took a theme park vacation to California. I still have fond memories of our time there. So, I was excited when I had the opportunity to go to Universal Studios Florida with my boys, dad, sister, and niece. Dad was the one who introduced us to Harry Potter movies when we were kids and they first came out. It was a fun, full circle moment, to include him in sharing the magic with our kids. To help make the occasion extra special, we... Read more...
Miniverse Kitchen Makeover - How I "Remodeled" My Miniverse Kitchen
*Some Miniverse Sets are not currently available. Read more HERE.* Yes, I jumped on the Miniverse bandwagon. They are all so tiny and fun! See all of the Miniverse sets I've made Category: Make It Miniverse If you don't know what "Miniverse" is, they simply are kits of mini resin crafts. There are multiple series, most of which are food with a couple home and decor series. Part of the fun is that the balls the kits come in are only labeled to the series, so it's a mystery which kit... Read more...
Making My First Tote Bag - the Maker's Tote from Noodlehead
I have been sewing for a very long time. I come from a line of seamstress'. However, my sewing has not ventured out too far from quilts or simple two sided projects. I don't consider myself to be a "beginner", however I am definitely not anywhere near what I would consider "advanced". There area a lot of sewing techniques I have yet to try. A few months ago, I expanded my cross stitch thread collection. My small tote bag could no longer accommodate all my cross stitch supplies. So I... Read more...
How to make Krumkake (Norwegian waffle cookies)
Any time I make krumkake for an event, I always have to make a double batch because my family cannot resist to taste test. They especially go great with a warm mug of Wassail! [Wassail recipe here] Krumkake -pronounced "crumb cake"- is a Norwegian waffle cookie that is rolled. It can be stuffed or enjoyed on its own (which is how we prefer it). The process of making krumkake does take time. The waffle iron only cooks 2 at a time, and a batch usually yields around 30 cookies. When... Read more...
My Review of the "Island Holiday" Book Nook Kit
I'm sure I can somehow link my love of miniature things to something in my childhood. Or a simple side affect of being a millennial. Either way, mini things just have a way of stealing my attention.   I was very excited to add this Book Nook to my shelf. My own mini Island Holiday. [view it on Amazon here]. Here is my honest review of the kit.         There are multiple types of miniature house kits that have different assembly. This kit in particular is completely... Read more...
Easy Three Ingredient Home Made Pizza Dough Recipe
Pizza night is a staple in our house. Every Friday is pizza night. Instead of buying and storing mass amounts of pizza crusts, I make my own from scratch. I use this quick and easy recipe that only requires 3 ingredients that I always have on hand. (Ok, so I realize if you read the recipe, its actually 5 ingredients... I didn't count salt and water since they are two common staples.) One batch of dough gives me enough to make 3 single size pizzas and one larger, or 2... Read more...
